About us

In 1962 the Divisional Education officer, Mr D.W.Davies, suggested to Mr Mervyn Burtch, Head of Music at Lewis Girls’ School, that it would be a good thing for the area to have a music club. A meeting was arranged with Miss Green, the head mistress, who gave her unqualified support for the project, and so the Rhymney Valley Music Club came into being.

We are able to provide prestigious concerts because of the Welsh Arts’ Council’s ‘Night Out’ Scheme and other grants from Caerphilly County Borough Council and Gelligaer Community Council.

We promote eight concerts each season between September and May. Concerts are held at one of three venues in Ystrad Mynach: Lewis Girls’ School, Siloh Christian Centre and occasionally at Lewis Street Methodist Church. All are located within a short walking distance from the main car park.
